So, we are into the first week of the fall season. It’s the last patch of the year and will make up the neat gear.

East Side Militia is gearing up to put on a show.

I’m down in points right now. I had a dumb, dumb early loss. I’m playing the Harbinger. I just finished painting her and she looks dope. I had a rash of painting and basing go on during the Monday Night Football game. The game itself was ridiculous, but all the old Steelers were cool as hell. Hearing Tony Kornheiser constantly talk about how the Steelers 4 was the best. It was coo. Kornheiser has worked his way onto my good side.

So, I will be looking to field a fully painted and based Redeemer. The name of the game this league is going to probably be distance and control. Skyhammers are going to be my golden ticket. Harbinger’s knockdown spell coupled with Redeemers or if I decide to field them again(probably will now they are fully painted) zealots. Roll to hit. Ok, I don’t explode. Yeah, POW 12 can hurt. 16 inch shot is long, it can catch opponents off guard.

So, I’m really going to try to be competetive. I slacked last league. Feora is not my most competitive caster, so I handicapped myself going in, but I also didn’t make it a priority to win. East Side Militia will take home best team pin. Champion? Maybe. Relentless? Maybe. Tactician? Maybe.

Done it before and I’ll do it again. Severius and Harbinger.

So, the summer league ended and I did the worst I have done yet. The only award was for best team and that was because Travis and I had the only team in the league. Feora is not my most competitive caster but I do have a lot of fun playing her. That’s all I was looking for so it is all good.

Fall league is on. The East Side Militia has declared.

I also played in the Stampede tournament. There are definitely things to like about Hordes. I played 4 games and won 3 of them. Pretty good for being the only 3 games I have played beyond playtesting the rules before the book even came out with proxy models.

I played the Skorne and it inspired me to pick up a Titan Cannoneer.

Summer league is pretty much over for me. Played Haley with a Cygnar army. I got in a lot of games, so I am hoping for a relentless pin or perhaps even a best warmachine pin.

It will all be figured out in the coming couple weeks.

The MVPs of this season were the Rangers. Close second only because I didn’t have them until the end were the gun mages. Woo, dog.

And the spring league pins still aren’t in.

This past thursday I won the spring league. Got tactician, relentless, and best team pins as well.

I started out the day with my first 1000 point game ever against Parker my favorite opponent ever with Rhyas-my most favorite warlock ever. I lost and then laughed because I was still 30 points in the god damn lead.

Then I was informed that they don’t even have the damn pins. Sweet.

Then I had not enough beers. We need to find a cheaper/open-later post league night drinking place.

On a completely unrelated topic. I was watching people degrade themselves on I Love New York the Mtv reality tv show and imagined going back in time in a really shitty janked time machine that could only go back say, 6 years or a little less in the past and someone had a DVD player that could read the disc of that show. I Love New York as a slogan had a resonance after the World Trade Center attacks. It meant a solidarity in an idea that unified our country’s fragmented but collected culture. We are New York that French paper pulled out, then later revised recanted misrecalled and all those other things French people and all other people do, but French people do the most revoltingly. And I see this girl they throw a camera in front of with princess tattooed on her tit, with a room full of self-serving slugs slobbering. Fuck that. How did that idea drop down so far so quick? I remember that time. That wasn’t far away. It’s not like the end of the cold war to me, where i can’t remember a time before. I remember that day and the words people said and I look at where we are right now and I don’t know if I was even so cynical then.

I think I had such a problem with it because at the time of the event I thought that it was like the asteroid that hit the earth and killed all the dinosaurs and brought on the age of the mammal. But looking at it now, it feels more like one of those huge craters you find in the desert or in Siberia. It’s a deep hole. It caused a shit ton of havoc, but if you walk a few miles away-you wouldn’t even know it was there.

And for the record, Squirtle remains my all time favorite Pokemon ever. Anybody who likes any other Pokemon more doesn’t have their priorities straight.

Last week for spring league has arrived. I still have a rather commanding lead in all the categories.

I won a game on Thursday and got the faction bounty for it. So, if no one gets one I’ll take best tactician pin as well as relentless, best team, and champion.

I don’t want to sound too cocky. I still feel like it could all just crumble around me.

played three games on Saturday.

won 2 easily. had the last one in my hand and I let it go.

spent my focus poorly and went for the win in my turn rather than the assured win in my next one. of course, I blithely ignored the latter possibility.

Going into the last week after this next thursday.

I have the fire back. No one will get in my way. Fucking no one.

The world will burn and I will light the match.

So…I didn’t get many league games in this week. I got a lot of games in. Played Gene on Saturday because we showed up and no one else did. Then I played…shit. I played Gene again on Sunday, but this time with my Cygnar. I actually can’t remember what I played him on Saturday. I’ll have to ask him.

But, I played 3 games on Thursday. I started out trying out a wierd list on a new player. I figured I would test something out on him. Go with elite troops and settle for less VPs, but also have two heavy warjacks. No arc nodes. Not a maximized list like I usually run. Then the guy I beat last week, Steve, came in and he had bought Alexia specifically to go against me. I saw his list and there just wasn’t a good way for me to get at him. He had Scorcha and when you go against her there is a good way to go and then there was the way I went. My whole goal the entire game was to get the High Reclaimer into her deployment zone. Yeah…that’s real fun with a 5 movement. I can’t blame him, he has a god damn furnace strapped to his back.
Anyways, freezy stuff. Dumb crap. Game against Sorcha. I lost.

Then, Parker, a guy I beat the week before last came up. I used the same defunkt BS on him and it fell flat. He also said that he had gone home and read up everything on Menoth. I guess he had a hard time with them at a tournament as well. I like to think it was the handing I gave to him.

A cruder man might have used the word fisting.

Of course, I was lazy as hell and used the same shit on the same table against him. His warcaster is a ninja and I let her ninja me…

Well, next time, motherfuckers.

It’s on this week. I am really feeling the crunch. Just two weeks left and I am only ahead by 10. I have staked a lot of my ego on this.

yeah, so I did end up going to the game store. I picked on a kid I knew wasn’t much good and whipped him to keep me ahead of the number 2 guy heading into Thursday. As I went into the store I was behind, but now I am back ahead.

I have no interest in ever being number 2.

I had to yell at the kid to play faster, so he could kill my shit so I could get to my turn. If he had stalled anymore he would have won on victory points and I wasn’t having that bullshit.

As I left the parking lot I nearly hit a kid. He ran right in front of my car like some 4 year old with no concept that a parking lot isn’t the best place to sprint. He gave me a shit eating grin like he didn’t understand why I was so pissed and then slapped the back of my car like one football player might smack the ass of a fellow player, like we were buddies.

That motherfucker is the farthest thing from my buddy and will hear about it the next time I see him.
